Live Action Aladdin Trailer Reaction

Disney being Disney dropped a new peek at Live Action Aladdin during the Grammys. Aladdin is my favourite Disney film and I was really apprehensive about the whole idea but the more I see the more excited I get about it. I quite like Disney Live Action films they give another dimension to the stories that we already love, Live Action Cinderella is my all time favourite. Also, I love having actual people as the characters it makes it so much easier when thinking about it and watching.

So the trailer itself is longer than the teaser we got a couple of months ago but still quite short in retrospect. Once again we start with Iago and the desert but this time at nightime to the Cave of Wonders which looks incredible. Whilst all this is going on we have the enchanting music of Arabian Nights which is amazing. We finally get a look at Jafar who has convinced Aladdin to retrieve the lamp from the Cave where we also get the full look at Aladdin and Abu who reminds me of Jack the monkey out of Pirates of the Caribbean. Then we get another look at beautiful Agrabah in the daylight. Excitingly we have what looks like to be a snipet of Prince Ali but still no look at Prince Ali himself which I'm excited for. This looks like it's going to be a colourful occasion. We get a proper look at the lovely Prince Jasmine, Niomi Scott looks perfect I love the colours in her outfit and how she presents herself as a strong princess. There is also Rajah in the background as well. The next bit I nearly screamed even though it's just Aladdin and Jasmine joining hands but it looks like the lead up to A Whole New World which again I cannot wait for. We then have Aladdin stuck whilst the Cave of Wonders crashes around him, Disney have gone all out with the CGI, I think this will be a visaully stunning film in more ways than one. Then finally we have what everyone has been waiting for Aladdin rubs the lamp and we FINALLY get a look at Will Smith in all his blue Genie gloriousness and I personally am impressed he looks like a Genie and that's what it should be. I love his lines at the end he's going to be a sassy Genie. Also in the background again we see Carpet which I think is a very underated Disney character he's amazing and looks exactly as he should. Whilst all of this is going on the music changes to instrumental Friend Like Me and yes it was then stuck in my head all day.

Honestly, this trailer made my day I wanted to scream with excitement the whole time watching it and I've rewatched a million times since. I have no idea why I doubted Disney in the first place, they just know how to get you. However, I do appreciate people have different opinions on this and that's fair enough but I am SO excited for this now, roll on May.

Review: Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cinderella

At the beginning of April on what was our third attempt at booking this show, me and my friend finally saw Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella at the Gillian Lynne Theatre. Cinderella itself a show that has been delayed on numerous occasions due to the pandemic. I love Cinderella it is one of my favourite fairy tale stories and the fact that Carrie Hope Fletcher plays the title of role of Cinderella, I was intrigued what this version had in stall for us. This modern adaptation of Cinderella is created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Emerald Fennell and is set in the town of Belleville which is known for being the most beautiful town. Everyone in the town is epitome of perfection and they loathe anything or anyone who does not fit the norm. Cue Cinderella who is the gothic outlier towards this perfection, losing Belleville the prize for the most beautiful town by defacing a statute of the beloved Prince Charming who has disappeared. Into his shoes comes the awkward younger brother Prince Seba...

Wallace Collection: Inspiring Walt Disney

Earlier this month I booked tickets to see the new Inspiring Walt Disney exhibition at the Wallace Collection in London. This is about how French design inspired Walt Disney in his films especially Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. The exhibition is located on the bottom floor of the building, and you can either pre book your slot or pay when you get there. There is also an optional digital tour guide and head set for free, which I did pick up but struggled with the headphones so ended up listening to bits I wanted to as opposed to the whole exhibition. I would recommend picking up one if you have time and you are really interested in the animation side, as they speak to the animators at Disney and how they produced the various ideas for the films. The exhibition starts with a quote from Walt Disney on the wall. It then goes into how Walt visited Europe for holidays and to gather visual references for his films. There was a black and white film of Walt and his family on holiday in P...

Review: Carrie Hope Fletcher: An Open Book

I  have been very fortunate to see Carrie perform in an array of shows over time but this is the first time I’ve seen her as herself. I loved the concept of this show that we had to help her finish the script so we were inside her head.  Prior to the show there was a link on Carrie’s social media and a QR code at the venue to help choose what stories she told us. Certain stories I think she tells in every show but then the rest are decided by us the audience. I’m not going to spoil anything about the stories or the songs but I loved hearing her sing songs from shows she has performed in and songs that suit the stories, some I knew and some I didn’t. Carrie has such a knack for storytelling and they were heartbreaking and heartwarming. I love how relatable Carrie is as a person and these stories just amplify that with how her thoughts and feelings in certain situations she has gone through in life. I love the intimacy of the staging as well, set up like a room at home and the o...
