European Premiere of Christopher Robin

On Sunday, I was very lucky to attend the European premiere of Christopher Robin at the BFI Southbank in London. I got this chance after I won a competition through the Walt Disney Studios Facebook page after answering a question right and from that I won four tickets for the premiere.

What a day this was, I could collect my ticket from 4pm, so we had a wonder around London first and visited various places such as the Disney Store, Toms and Spectrum Beauty who recently opened on Carnaby Street. We walked slowly over the Thames to Southbank and ate our lunch in the National Theatre and walked out to what we discovered was the behind of the premiere. We checked out what was happening and they were letting people in to go behind the barriers. Unfortunately, they were sticking to their 4pm ticket collection which was fine. So, we went back and collected the tickets which were so cute they had Tigger on the back. We waited for about 15 minutes before they moved us in, in that time we saw Hayley Attwell who plays Evelyn Robin in the film, get out of her car and have her photos taken which was a surreal moment. Then we got to walk the carpet, the actual premiere carpet and on our way in the voice of Winnie the Pooh/Tigger, Jim Cummings, nearly walked into my boyfriend, again a surreal moment.

Once inside the BFI, they had decorated it for the premiere which was so cute and subtle. At the bar, they had some juice or water which was completely free. We sat and people watched for a while whilst we drunk our juice which was lovely and refreshing after a very hot day in London. We had to be seated at 5 so we went into screen which was NFT 3. It was a lovely little screen where we were greeted by Winnie the Pooh on the screen, added to the amazing treatment on each seat there was a little cinema goodie bag of dried mango, a bag of popcorn and a bottle of water. We had the best seats as well we were the back row, right in the middle so we had the prefect view throughout the film.

The best part of the day was just before the film started an announcer came into the room and introduced the screen to the director who bought and introduced all these people into the room such as Jim Cummings, Hayley Attwell, Ewan McGregor which was insane being in the room as all these incredible people it was a dream. I won’t say too much about the film apart from it is wonderful, everyone young and old needs to see it as I feel it has important life lessons within.

This was a dream day for me, I can’t thank Disney enough for making the magic happen, they truly are the best company. It was a once in a lifetime experience I can’t believe I lived, me and my boyfriend love Winnie the Pooh so much so for us to experience this was magical. Disney truly make magic happen for people.

I hope you enjoyed this post, until next time

Review- Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Tour

This weekend I went and watched the tour cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. I’ve not seen this show before but it has been on my list for a long time. I’d only heard one or two songs before so I was going in with no ideas of what it was like and I found it very enjoyable. Background This is based on the true story of 16 year old Jamie New who dreams of being a drag queen as well as wearing a dress to his prom. Throughout the show we see Jamie go through a journey of self discovery which has so many highs and lows. Along the way we meet people who are and aren’t supportive of his dream and how much prejudice he has to contend with. The show first opened on the West End in 2017 and is currently on its second UK tour. Cast The cast of this show were fabulous, unfortunately didn't get to see Ivano Turco play Jamie, Finton Flynn was incredible in those red heels. He portrayed the emotion of playing Jamie perfectly as well showing the young silly ...

Wallace Collection: Inspiring Walt Disney

Earlier this month I booked tickets to see the new Inspiring Walt Disney exhibition at the Wallace Collection in London. This is about how French design inspired Walt Disney in his films especially Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. The exhibition is located on the bottom floor of the building, and you can either pre book your slot or pay when you get there. There is also an optional digital tour guide and head set for free, which I did pick up but struggled with the headphones so ended up listening to bits I wanted to as opposed to the whole exhibition. I would recommend picking up one if you have time and you are really interested in the animation side, as they speak to the animators at Disney and how they produced the various ideas for the films. The exhibition starts with a quote from Walt Disney on the wall. It then goes into how Walt visited Europe for holidays and to gather visual references for his films. There was a black and white film of Walt and his family on holiday in P...

Review: Disney's Newsies

For my birthday my fiancé bought tickets to see Disney’s Newsies at the Troubadour Theatre in Wembley. This show opened in November and has just extended its run until 30th July. I wasn’t sure what to expect and I was blown away with what I saw. Background This musical is adapted from the 1992 Disney movie News Boys. Based on the true story of the Newsboys strike in 1899 in New York against the papers of Joseph Pulitzer after he put the prices of their bundles up. The original musical opened on Broadway in 2012 and was filmed live on stage in 2017 which you can watch on Disney +. This is the first time that UK audiences will be able to experience this new innovative production. Staging I didn’t know what to expect when I walked into the theatre and I was in awe of the staging. You have the main stage which has the metal structure but around the outside of the seating they had extra structures that the actors ran around and up and down to get around and back onto the stage. It has to be...
