Top 5 Shows I Want To See

Hey Guys

I did a post on the best 5 shows I have seen on stage which you can read here which I wanted to follow that up by doing a Top 5 shows I want to see.

1. The Lion King

I feel like all my theatre friends even my sister has seen this show apart from me. Unfortunately I missed out on the school trip for this when I was in Year 7 because I opted for something else. I am hoping this is the one most likely on this list that I am going to go and see soon. I am a huge lover of Disney if you didn't know and I like The Lion King it's not one of my favourites but I would put it on out of choice and I am intrigued to see how it is going to be done on stage and how good the music will sound. However, the tickets for this show are very expensive which puts me off just a little bit and is the main reason why I haven't seen it yet. Lion King is on at the Lyceum Theatre in London.

2. The Jersey Boys

This is a musical that has been on my list for a very long time because I love the music of Frankie Valli and the four seasons so I think this musical would be amazing to go and see if just for the music because I think it'll be so good. This is on at the Piccadilly Theatre in London until March 2017 but is going on tour in December 2017.

3. Matilda

I loved this book when I was younger and was the only Roald Dahl books I actually liked, I also really enjoyed the film as well. Also I have seen on YouTube and from my theatre friends nothing but praise for this musical. From what I have heard and seen I am so intrigued and think I would thoroughly enjoy a flashback to something that was part of my childhood. This is on at the Cambridge Theatre in London.

4. Miss Saigon

This is one based purely on recommendations and good reviews as I don't really know what it is about I know war is one of the main topics within this play. However, this is no longer playing on London's West End but is planning on going on tour next year so I have my fingers crossed to try and get tickets.

5. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

This one I have been debating about ever since it was announced and only recently I have I come around to the idea of wanting to see it because it's Harry Potter and I want to grasp every bit of the Harry Potter world that I possibly can. I have read the play book that came out last month and too be honest I thought it was ok nothing special but I'm hoping it will translate better on stage, in my opinion the 2nd part is better than the 1st part. However, out of all these plays this one is the one I'm most unlikely to see due to the impossibility of getting tickets for it but I remain hopeful. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is on at the Palace Theatre in London.

Hope you enjoyed reading about what shows I want to see on stage. Until next time

Stacey

Review- Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Tour

This weekend I went and watched the tour cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. I’ve not seen this show before but it has been on my list for a long time. I’d only heard one or two songs before so I was going in with no ideas of what it was like and I found it very enjoyable. Background This is based on the true story of 16 year old Jamie New who dreams of being a drag queen as well as wearing a dress to his prom. Throughout the show we see Jamie go through a journey of self discovery which has so many highs and lows. Along the way we meet people who are and aren’t supportive of his dream and how much prejudice he has to contend with. The show first opened on the West End in 2017 and is currently on its second UK tour. Cast The cast of this show were fabulous, unfortunately didn't get to see Ivano Turco play Jamie, Finton Flynn was incredible in those red heels. He portrayed the emotion of playing Jamie perfectly as well showing the young silly ...

Wallace Collection: Inspiring Walt Disney

Earlier this month I booked tickets to see the new Inspiring Walt Disney exhibition at the Wallace Collection in London. This is about how French design inspired Walt Disney in his films especially Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. The exhibition is located on the bottom floor of the building, and you can either pre book your slot or pay when you get there. There is also an optional digital tour guide and head set for free, which I did pick up but struggled with the headphones so ended up listening to bits I wanted to as opposed to the whole exhibition. I would recommend picking up one if you have time and you are really interested in the animation side, as they speak to the animators at Disney and how they produced the various ideas for the films. The exhibition starts with a quote from Walt Disney on the wall. It then goes into how Walt visited Europe for holidays and to gather visual references for his films. There was a black and white film of Walt and his family on holiday in P...

Review: Disney's Newsies

For my birthday my fiancé bought tickets to see Disney’s Newsies at the Troubadour Theatre in Wembley. This show opened in November and has just extended its run until 30th July. I wasn’t sure what to expect and I was blown away with what I saw. Background This musical is adapted from the 1992 Disney movie News Boys. Based on the true story of the Newsboys strike in 1899 in New York against the papers of Joseph Pulitzer after he put the prices of their bundles up. The original musical opened on Broadway in 2012 and was filmed live on stage in 2017 which you can watch on Disney +. This is the first time that UK audiences will be able to experience this new innovative production. Staging I didn’t know what to expect when I walked into the theatre and I was in awe of the staging. You have the main stage which has the metal structure but around the outside of the seating they had extra structures that the actors ran around and up and down to get around and back onto the stage. It has to be...
