My favourite book series

Welcome back !!

Hope you all have had a good week, before we start I am so sad that Alan Rickman died this week such a sad loss because as you are about to find out I love Harry Potter.

So as promised this week I am going to share with you my favourite book series but instead of 5 it's going to be 6 because I found it so hard to choose.

First series is The Land Of Stories by Chris Colfer
This is a fantasy book series that is aimed at 9-12 years old but I still love it. It's about twins, Alex and Connor, who get given a book of fairy tales by their grandmother, then one day they get transported into this fairy tale world and the first book is all about them trying to get home and along the way we meet all the fairy tale characters that we have grown up with and love. From there the series just is about all different adventures the twins have in The Land of Stories. Currently there are 4 books The Wishing Spell, The Enchantress Returns, A Grimm Warning and Beyond the Kingdom and 2 novellas, The Mother Goose Diaries and Queen Red Riding Hood's Guide to Royalty, hopefully the 5th book is out later this year, which I cannot wait for because book 4 ended on such a cliff-hanger.

Harry Potter by JK Rowling
Probably one of the most popular book series in history and one of the first book series I ever read. If you do not know this is a series about a boy named Harry Potter who finds out for he's a wizard and the series is about him growing up and fighting dark wizards. There are 7 books in the series Philosophers Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half Blood Prince and the Deathly Hallows. There are also 3 little novellas which are The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Qudditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them (Cannot wait for the movie to come out). I love this book series the only reason why this is not number one on this list is because it has been a long time since I have read it and am currently re reading the series.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas
This was a new discovery last year and I loved it. Once again it is a fantasy series about a trained assassin called Celaena Sardothien who gets taken out of prison by the Crown Prince to compete and become the Kings Assassin. This series has magic, romance, major twists and fantastic character development. Currently there are 4 books in the series Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows as well as a group of prequel novellas called The Assassins Blade which is also very good. The 5th book is due out in September of this year which I cannot wait for to see where this world and story is going next.

Divergent Series by Veronica Roth
I enjoyed this series quite a lot it's a dystopian book series about a girl called Tris who leaves her family to join another group and during this process she learns that she is divergent which means she fits into more than one group and the series follows the implications of that. I can understand the problems people have with this book apart from one major thing and that's how it ends, I think the end of this series is amazing and very brave by the author I have never seen it done in any other book series that I have read. This is made up of 3 books Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant and one novella called Four.

The Bone Season Series by Samantha Shannon
I love the concept of this series it is about a girl who is clairvoyant and works as a in the criminal underworld of a future London. She gets kidnapped and taken to a secret place that is controlled by a outworld race. This book is about her trying to get home and the implications of this out world race being in our world. I did find the 2nd book a bit slow in parts and I think it could have been condensed down a bit but it was worth in the end with how this book ended. For now there are only 2 books currently out and these are The Bone Season and The Mime Order however the 3rd book The Song Rising is out this year, once again I cannot wait to see how this world and story is going to develop.

Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Last book series and another highly popular book series. I admit I tried reading these because I saw them in a charity shop and bought them and I could not get into it at all it dragged a lot. However I saw Catching Fire when that came into cinema because I was interested (I hadn't watched Hunger Games) which then encouraged me to read the books because I really wanted to know what happened in Mockingjay in particular which killed me and waiting for the film part 2 seemed like an eternity. I enjoyed reading it after watching the films and this is a very rare time where I did find the films better than the books but I would still advise people to give this series a go though and draw their own opinions.

Hope you enjoyed discovering my favourite books series and I hope you find a new favourite in this post and/or last weeks. Enjoy the rest of your week until next time.

Loves and Hugs xxx

Review- Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Tour

This weekend I went and watched the tour cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. I’ve not seen this show before but it has been on my list for a long time. I’d only heard one or two songs before so I was going in with no ideas of what it was like and I found it very enjoyable. Background This is based on the true story of 16 year old Jamie New who dreams of being a drag queen as well as wearing a dress to his prom. Throughout the show we see Jamie go through a journey of self discovery which has so many highs and lows. Along the way we meet people who are and aren’t supportive of his dream and how much prejudice he has to contend with. The show first opened on the West End in 2017 and is currently on its second UK tour. Cast The cast of this show were fabulous, unfortunately didn't get to see Ivano Turco play Jamie, Finton Flynn was incredible in those red heels. He portrayed the emotion of playing Jamie perfectly as well showing the young silly ...

Wallace Collection: Inspiring Walt Disney

Earlier this month I booked tickets to see the new Inspiring Walt Disney exhibition at the Wallace Collection in London. This is about how French design inspired Walt Disney in his films especially Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. The exhibition is located on the bottom floor of the building, and you can either pre book your slot or pay when you get there. There is also an optional digital tour guide and head set for free, which I did pick up but struggled with the headphones so ended up listening to bits I wanted to as opposed to the whole exhibition. I would recommend picking up one if you have time and you are really interested in the animation side, as they speak to the animators at Disney and how they produced the various ideas for the films. The exhibition starts with a quote from Walt Disney on the wall. It then goes into how Walt visited Europe for holidays and to gather visual references for his films. There was a black and white film of Walt and his family on holiday in P...

Review: Disney's Newsies

For my birthday my fiancé bought tickets to see Disney’s Newsies at the Troubadour Theatre in Wembley. This show opened in November and has just extended its run until 30th July. I wasn’t sure what to expect and I was blown away with what I saw. Background This musical is adapted from the 1992 Disney movie News Boys. Based on the true story of the Newsboys strike in 1899 in New York against the papers of Joseph Pulitzer after he put the prices of their bundles up. The original musical opened on Broadway in 2012 and was filmed live on stage in 2017 which you can watch on Disney +. This is the first time that UK audiences will be able to experience this new innovative production. Staging I didn’t know what to expect when I walked into the theatre and I was in awe of the staging. You have the main stage which has the metal structure but around the outside of the seating they had extra structures that the actors ran around and up and down to get around and back onto the stage. It has to be...
