April favourites and review

Hi Guys

Hope you are all doing well. Time for another monthly favourites and review for April.

FILM:

I watched 3 films this month which were The Huntsman: Winter War, Bastille Day and Captain America: Civil War. The obvious favourite is Captain America which really was amazing, however if you need to have watched Captain America: Winter Solider and Avengers: Age of Ultron to fully understand what happens in this film. I enjoyed The Huntsman but I had a feeling at the end of was that it and I thought the dwarves humour was a bit overdone and ended up being annoying. Bastille Day was very good involving a pick pocket and a CIA cop trying to uncover a bomb plot in Pairs. However I did think it was heavy focused on Idris Elba's character and they made Richard Madden's character a bit too much of a pansy when it came to fights. I did rediscover a film from my childhood as well as it was on Netflix and this was Anastasia which is about a Russian family who get cursed and Anastasia is the only living relative bar her grandmother, I forgot how much I loved this film.

SPORT:

As usual so much happens every month in the sporting world, so I'm just going to pick out a few. The biggest thing that happened this month was the families of the 96 that died at Hillsborough, 27 years ago, finally getting justice. Another thing that happened this month was England cricketer James Taylor having to take early retirement due to a discovery of a serious heart condition which he has since had surgery on, which is very sad as he was one of my favourites but obviously his health is a million times more important than cricket. Finally Liverpool defender Sakho being slapped with a drugs ban by UEFA after it was found that he took drugs for fat burning. I also attended the derby day game between Saracens v Harlequins. The best sports match I watched this month has to be the quarter final 2nd leg between Liverpool and Dortmund. Liverpool were 2-0 down in the first 10 minutes meaning they had to score 3 goals to qualify which didn't look very likely they eventually got one back only for Dortmund to go and score again meaning Liverpool needed 4 goals to qualify and somehow they managed it in the last 10 minutes of the game they scored to win the game 4-3 and the tie 5-4 on aggregate.

BOOKS:

I read 4 books this month which were Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton, One With You by Sylvia Day, The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey and Us by David Nicholls. I don't have a favourite from these books because none of them really stood out to me although I did enough them.

SONG:

I have two songs that I have been loving this month and they are Adventures of a Lifetime by Coldplay and Work from Home by Fifth Harmony. Just two catchy songs that have been everywhere this past month.

FOOD:

I had food in TGI Fridays for the first time last month and I really enjoyed the food there was lovely but my cocktail was a bit too strong but that really wasn't a massive problem and I shall be eating there in the future.

So that's my favourites and review of April, until next time

Review- Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Tour

This weekend I went and watched the tour cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. I’ve not seen this show before but it has been on my list for a long time. I’d only heard one or two songs before so I was going in with no ideas of what it was like and I found it very enjoyable. Background This is based on the true story of 16 year old Jamie New who dreams of being a drag queen as well as wearing a dress to his prom. Throughout the show we see Jamie go through a journey of self discovery which has so many highs and lows. Along the way we meet people who are and aren’t supportive of his dream and how much prejudice he has to contend with. The show first opened on the West End in 2017 and is currently on its second UK tour. Cast The cast of this show were fabulous, unfortunately didn't get to see Ivano Turco play Jamie, Finton Flynn was incredible in those red heels. He portrayed the emotion of playing Jamie perfectly as well showing the young silly ...

Wallace Collection: Inspiring Walt Disney

Earlier this month I booked tickets to see the new Inspiring Walt Disney exhibition at the Wallace Collection in London. This is about how French design inspired Walt Disney in his films especially Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. The exhibition is located on the bottom floor of the building, and you can either pre book your slot or pay when you get there. There is also an optional digital tour guide and head set for free, which I did pick up but struggled with the headphones so ended up listening to bits I wanted to as opposed to the whole exhibition. I would recommend picking up one if you have time and you are really interested in the animation side, as they speak to the animators at Disney and how they produced the various ideas for the films. The exhibition starts with a quote from Walt Disney on the wall. It then goes into how Walt visited Europe for holidays and to gather visual references for his films. There was a black and white film of Walt and his family on holiday in P...

Review: Disney's Newsies

For my birthday my fiancé bought tickets to see Disney’s Newsies at the Troubadour Theatre in Wembley. This show opened in November and has just extended its run until 30th July. I wasn’t sure what to expect and I was blown away with what I saw. Background This musical is adapted from the 1992 Disney movie News Boys. Based on the true story of the Newsboys strike in 1899 in New York against the papers of Joseph Pulitzer after he put the prices of their bundles up. The original musical opened on Broadway in 2012 and was filmed live on stage in 2017 which you can watch on Disney +. This is the first time that UK audiences will be able to experience this new innovative production. Staging I didn’t know what to expect when I walked into the theatre and I was in awe of the staging. You have the main stage which has the metal structure but around the outside of the seating they had extra structures that the actors ran around and up and down to get around and back onto the stage. It has to be...
